Ontario is vast – larger than France and Germany combined! And its impressive geography is home to spectacular natural wonders waiting to be explored. Charming towns invite you to come antiquing and sample local cuisine. Multicultural metropolises offer a rich variety of nightlife and urban adventures. From First Nations’ Pow Wows to joyous Pride Parade celebrations, over 3,000 festivals ignite every interest.
The front of the Windsor Arms Hotel resembles a small neo-gothic castle. Walking down the corridors you can feel the history in the hallways. Is it haunted? If there are any ghosts lurking they're likely benevolent and represent the vintage Hollywood stars that have stayed here over the years. But, in October, any building with a little history could be haunted - at least till the 31st. When I was a young "trick or treater" the most popular costumes were Disney characters like Snow White, ghosts made from old sheets, favourite tv characters, pirates, ballerinas, hockey players etc. But, no matter what we wore it was always about the candy, the anticipation and the thrill of the night.
It’s a common site all over Toronto. This week I saw a film crew shooting on Hazelton Avenue just up the street from Yorkville. Rows of orange upside down cones holding parking spots for arriving luxury RV's and big white cube trucks. It’s the tell tale sign of a movie crew on location.
Toronto is a huge urban city, true. Everyone knows "the six" is a sophisticated, multi-cultural and great nightlife destination for foodies and fun lovers. But, its also home to lots of parks and natural green spaces where you can see some serious fall colours transform from shades of green to bright orange, gold and vermillion. With less than an hour's drive from the Windsor Arms Hotel you have High Park, Ramsdan Park, Edward's Gardens, Wilcot Creek, Christie Pitts, and Evergreen Brick Works to name just a few.
As we approach the final couple of days of #tiff16 its nice to look back and think about what our favourite moments of the Festival were.
For me one of the highlights was seeing the Windsor Arms’s Courtyard Cafe transformed into a gorgeous hanging garden of orchids and tea lights for the InStyle/Hollywood Foreign Press Association party. Everything about the event was beautiful, elegant and magical. And, the Stars came out in full force to enjoy it. From Pharrell to Nicole Kidman to Amy Adams, Jeffrey Tambor, Liev Schrieber, Naomi Watts to Taraji P. Henson and many, many more. It was a glamorous night to remember.
